On Saturday night, my new app "Battle Reference for Pokemon" went live in the Apple App Store. It's a free app whose job is to analyze a specific pokemon's elements and make recommendations on what pokemon to use against it, but it also includes elemental weaknesses so users can make their own decisions.

I built this app in 5 hours. Within 2 days I had over 1,000 downloads. The real point of this app was to prove that time, effort, and quality don't mean much anymore. What sells is popularity, even if it's totally ripped off from someone else's original idea.

Oh. Also, Apple's "reference" category seems less tightly regulated than their "games" category.
